Why should you race at PHHM?

Panhala is a scenic city and Hill Station Municipal Council, located 18 km northwest of Kolhapur in Maharashtra. At 3177 feet above sea level, it is the smallest city in Maharashtra, and it's developing rapidly as a tourist destination. The city sprawls over the Panhala Fort, which commands a panoramic view of the valley below.

The main attraction of Panhala is the historic Panhala Fort, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent 500 days of his life. It is the only fort where he spent such an extended period. The fort has many places of interest, each with its share of haunting anecdotes.

During the marathon, you’ll enjoy the cool, foggy climate that adds to the charm of the event. The trees on the course provide more oxygen, making your run more comfortable and enjoyable. You can choose from three distances, 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km, depending on your fitness level and preferences.

So come join us for an unforgettable experience on Panhala Fort. Register today, and be a part of this incredible journey!

History of Panhala (Kolhapur)

Panhala fort (also known as Panhalgad, Pahala, and Panalla (literal meaning"the home of serpents") is located in Karveer taluka, 20 kilometers northwest of Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. It is strategically located looking over a pass in the Sahyadri mountain range which was a major trade route from Bijapur in the interior of Maharashtra to the coastal areas. Due to its strategic location, it was the center of several skirmishes in the Deccan involving the Marathas, the Mughals, and the British East India Company being the Battle Of PawanKhind. Here, the Queen regent of Kolhapur state, Tarabai, spent her formative years. Panhala is the only fort where shivaji spent more than 500 days .

  • Cash awards are based on gun time not chip time. Chip time is recorded by an electronic chip that is attached to a runner's shoe. Your chip records the time at which you cross the start line, the finish line and several split times in between. Chip time is often shorter than gun time because chip time begins when a runner crosses the start line while gun time starts when the gun is fired; many runners don't cross the start line until several minutes after their official gun time has begun.

  • Runners must be registered for the event that they win/place for cash. They can officially switch races but must be registered in the race in which they win or place.

  • Walker etiquette: Runners will approach walkers quickly. Please be courteous; move over to the sides of the roads when runners approach and let them have the right of way and quickest way past. There is a large field of elite runners who are competing for prize money.

  • Age recommendations for the Half Marathon at least 16 years old.
